Jeanie Atkinson was born to Deanna Mae Hanson and Leslie Moroni Atkinson on June 24, 1964, in Granger, UT. In 1984, she met and married Michael Bahr and together they have six children. She died on November 27, 2024.
Jeanie was a friend to all and enjoyed having game and craft nights, and ladies’ sleepovers, where she was known to stay up all night talking and laughing.
Her greatest joy and primary occupation in life was raising her children. She also supported and raised several non-biological children formally through foster care, and informally through her children’s friends. She was fondly referred to as “Mama Bahr”.
Jeanie was devoted to her family and spent countless hours showing that love. She was thrilled to spend time attending social events for and with her children and grandchildren, whether that be sporting events or music and dance performances. Somehow, she never missed one.
She enjoyed crafts and was a very talented artist. Jeanie was always working on some sort of project for someone else. She was skilled in pencil drawing, sewing, crocheting, and cross-stitch. Her talents extended to being able to perfectly color match without a sample, and picking the perfect size tupperware for any leftovers.
She will be missed by those she left behind, particularly her husband MIchael and children Robbie Johnson (Kevin), Dani Roberts (David), Kylee Schramm (Justin), Casey Garcia (Chase), Preston Bahr, and Adam Bahr. She precedes them in death, as well as her grandchildren Caden Johnson; Ethan, Justin, Ryker, and Asher Roberts; Runa, Thatcher, and Freya Schramm; and Edmond Garcia. Additionally, she leaves behind her siblings Connie, Bob, Kerry, and Jared; and her mother-in-law Mary Bahr.
We know she is rejoicing in a reunion with her parents, her husband’s parents (Cecil and Barbara), and her brother Tim, who were waiting for her on the other side. We know she is watching over her loved ones still on earth, as well, ready to welcome them when the time comes.
There will be a viewing for family and friends on Monday, December 9th, 2024 from 6-8pm at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints located at 14219 NE 49th St, Vancouver, WA 98682. At the same location on the following day, the 10th, there will be another brief viewing from 9-10am, a funeral service starting at 10am and then a luncheon for all in attendance. The graveside service will be held on Wednesday the 10th at Willamette National Cemetery for close family and friends.
In honor of Jeanie, we ask you to reconnect and reconcile with friends and family, and spread love to those around you.
