Janet Maryann Newell

She met the love of her life Gene Newell in Southern California. They were married shortly thereafter. Janet enjoyed raising her three sons and working side by side with Gene running their numerous business endeavors. Upon retirement they enjoyed traveling together in their RV until Gene’s death in 2002. Both cherished their relationship with Jesus and were active at Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church. She loved to sing in the choir and assisting with activities at the church. She loved playing cards and Sunday lunches with the ladies group. They celebrated, at the end of February, an early 80th birthday as her illness progressed.

Janet is preceded in death by her parent’s, and husband. She is survived by her sister Judy(Vern) Laite and nieces Jody, and Jackie of Minnesota. Also surviving are her son’s Jeffrey, James (Rachael) and Jon (Michelle). She was blessed with 12 grandchildren and 1 great granddaughter, Juliette Kay Betonte.

The family would like to thank special organizations and people who helped mom as she was beginning her journey home to reunite with her husband. Compass Oncology, Care Partners (Hospice), and The family of Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church, Phil Newell, and Kazia Cha, whom mom and the family feel made her transition more comforting and peaceful.

Visitation will be from 10 to 12 March 20, 2017 at Lincoln Memorial lincolnmemorialpk.com with a private burial at Willamette National Cemetary to follow. The Memorial Service will be held at 2:00, April 1, 2017 at Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church, 9800 SE 92nd Ave, Happy Valley, OR 97086 bslc.com.

The family suggests, in lieu of flowers donations to The American Cancer Society or to Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church.
