Eugene (Gene) H.A. Pronovost passed away on August 9, 2022, at the age of 91. Gene was born on September 24, 1930 in Waterbury, Connecticut. Gene joined the US Air Force in 1948. He served in the Korean War and retired as a Staff Sergeant in 1953. While in Portland, he met the love of his life, Rayma, at an Air Force dance in 1952, and married that same year.
After his time in the Air Force, Gene worked as an instructor for the United States Post Office from 1953 until his retirement in 1985.
Gene had many hobbies. He was an active member of the Gateway Elks Lodge, where he served as the Exalted Ruler from 1974-1975. He enjoyed woodworking, making items that he and Rayma would sell at various holiday bazaars. One of his favorite pastimes was putting together jigsaw puzzles.
He leaves behind his wife of 70 years, Rayma; 3 children, Gene (Roberta), Renee, and Jim (Lisa); 9 grandchildren, and 9 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his son, John.
Military service to be held at Willamette National Cemetery August 26, 2022, 9:30 a.m.
