As a patriotic war bride, Edith’s devotion carried over into a life long love and respect for God, country, military and her husband, our daddy, Kenneth H. Cauble.
As life changed course she and daddy packed up and moved across the country with their family, to Oregon, where she resided for 67 years. Aside from anointing her two daughters with the love and knowledge of Indiana farm roots (such as gardening, cooking, sewing, housekeeping, needlework, canning, motherhood and wisdom) she was adamant about NOT wasting anything!
She found her niche and talent caring for young children and the elderly. Many have Edith to thank for being the parents of well-behaved, well-mannered, healthy, upstanding citizens. Other children have mother to thank for the loving vigilance she gave to their aging parents when they lived miles away.
Dianna and Brenda are the most grateful for the loving care she bestowed upon her 5 grandchildren – whose antics she enjoyed. She was always available and never turned down an opportunity to share in their growth and upbringing. An always spotless house, a meticulously manicured yard , well-balanced meals always on the table and a calendar filled with dates of school and church projects, was how she demonstrated her love to the world. In her quiet time, she composed poetry. Mom and her dad sang together while working in the Indiana cornfields with plow and horses: “You are my Sunshine”, Amazing Grace” (her favorite hymn), and “God Bless America” (her favorite patriotic song).
Edith is predeceased by her parents, Franklin and Martha Ann Howell; her husband, Kenneth Hill Cauble; her siblings, Willie, Alonzo, Zelda, Grace, Charles, Marie, Opal, Helen and Alta. She is survived by her daughters, Dianna Hall (CG, deceased) and Brenda Beck (Bob). She is the grandmother to: Brad Butler (Cindy), Angela Butler (Robert), Kenny Beck (Tina), Billy Beck (Renee), and Christina Eisenhauer (Jim). Edith is survived by her 12 great-grandchildren: Caitlin, Abby (Jamie), Ryan, Austin, Ayden, Tyler, Jacob, Jagger, Sarah, Stephanie, Remington, and Charlie. Also, by her great-great grandchildren: Westyn, Noah, Brinley and two more on the way! Edith will be missed my many nieces, nephews, cousin and friends.
As one chapter of a soul’s life ends, another begins –
My prayer is that her legacy as wife, mother, sister, and friend shall be etched in the heart, mind and soul of those she touched as she traveled her earthly journey.
Let her journey not be in vain.
