The family settled in SE Portland where Donna attended school, and at 5th grade took herself to Woodstock Church of God where she asked Jesus into her heart.
She went to Warner Pacific College, where she met her husband, Ed Bunnell.
The two married in 1960.
Twins blessed the family in 1965. Pastor Hooker wisely advised, "You four and no more". Donna said when they come two at a time, that's good advice!
In 1972, Bunnell Construction was started. Ed and Donna ran a successful homebuilding business for many years.
Donna loved to travel. The Oregon coast was her favorite, although she also enjoyed family camping trips. She traveled to many different states with family and friends. She fondly recalled a trip to the Holy Lands with a group from Woodstock Church of God.
Golf was her favorite sport! The game found her a little later in life, but she embraced it! Whether playing with friends or her grandsons, she loved it! She was good at it!
Donna loved the Lord and often noted that she was one of His favorites! She loved people and never knew a stranger. She shared her faith with restaurant servers, nurses, family, and friends, daily.
Donna was a long-term cancer survivor! Diagnosed in 1993 with stage four cancer, she was a warrior. She fought hard and long and beat it. It got in some good licks. She was wounded but strong. Her standard answer to anyone that asked how she was (nurse, Doctor or daughters) "perfect".
She loved to serve in the church. She sang in the choir, taught Sunday school, cleaned the building, and served on the building committee to build Mt. Scott Church of God. She always gave great effort in all her tasks with a lot of joy, which made her so special.
We are thankful that Donna is in a far better place and enjoying eternity with her Lord and Savior and all those who went before, her including her parents and youngest brother David.
Donna leaves behind husband Ed, daughters Terri and Patty, sister Carol Neilson, and brother Rey.
A funeral service for Donna will be held Friday, November 18, 2022 at 1:00 PM at Lincoln Memorial Funeral Home, 11801 SE Mt Scott Blvd., Portland, Oregon.
Private family interment will take place at Lincoln Memorial Park Cemetery.
