Donald Kenneth Hammond

Don was born in Omaha, Nebraska on March 19, 1929, and he had 4 siblings. Don married Elizabeth "Mary" Hicks in 1950. While Don and "Mary" were childless, Don was a surrogate Father to Mary's Sister, Rosa Nell's 6 children; James Quick, Donald Quick, Stephanie Quick, Mark Quick, Tonya Petri and Jody Quick, and Uncle Don was endeared by each of them. He became a widower in 1991 after 41 years of marriage to Mary. Don met Ellen Lukkason and they were married in 1992. Don became the Step-Father to Ellen's 5 children, and during that marriage they were blessed with 14 Grandchildren and 19 Great-Grandchildren. Don is survived by his Wife Ellen 93, Brother Dick and Sister Sharon, Step-Children; Kelly Lukkason, Donna Ramirez, JoAnn Lukkason, David Lukkason, and Meda Lukkason.

Don was a truck driver in the freight industry for as long as anyone can remember. He was also a locksmith and a security guard. Don was an avid outdoorsman, boater and fisherman, often camping in their RV. He and Ellen loved to camp and fish. Don loved owning and fixing up classic cars, and was proud of his 1965 Ford Galaxy 500, and will also be remembered for his lavish gardens. Don and Ellen enjoyed dining out most every night. Don will be sorely missed by all who had the pleasure of spending time with him. Don and Ellen enjoyed living at home independently until very recently. His long life does not lessen the loss upon the world from his passing. Don's impact on so many lives is immeasurable.
