Brian was born in Portland on October 26, 1930 to Alfred S. and Erma H. (Akin) Teller.
He graduated from Lewis and Clark College with a degree in Public Administration and completed his Masters degree at the University of Washington. He married Shirley Gengelbach and they moved to Germany where he served in the Army, working in counter-intelligence. They then moved to Olympia where he worked as a fiscal analyst for the state of Washington, serving in the Governor's budget office, the state Senate and the Department of Trade and Economic Development. He also worked for the budget office in the city of Sacramento.
In his spare time, Brian enjoyed hiking, bicycling, cross country skiing, snowshoeing, and walking. He loved classical music and enjoyed attending concerts and opera productions. He had a lifetime love of learning and enjoyed living downtown where he could frequent art and history museums, the library, farmers markets and engage in conversation with friends of all ages.
His retirement years were spent traveling all over the world and especially to his favorite areas of Germany, Austria, Norway, Italy and France. He researched the family history and visited many areas in Norway where his ancestors had lived. He enjoyed getting together with his family, his dear friend Lillian Rogers, his international club, neighbors and having breakfast at his favorite cafe.
He is survived by his sister Nancy Rawlinson of Portland, daughter Patricia Moore of Olympia, son Brian Teller Jr. of Portland, grandchildren Karen Hollenbeck (Robb) and David Moore (Marisa) and Christian Teller (Ally), great-grandchildren Evelyn and Cy Hollenbeck, niece Janet Heinrichs (Dale) and nephews Jim and Steve Rawlinson.
