Beverly Jean Stone, 80, of Damascus Oregon, passed away on December 10, 2021. Beverly, a longtime resident of Portland Oregon, was born in Portland Oregon on August 3 1941. She was born Beverly Jean Wilcox, and was later adopted by Lucien Barton Alexander. Beverly graduated from David Douglas High School in Portland Oregon in 1959, and attended Sheldon Jackson College in Sitka Alaska. She was married to Keith Walter Plotner (divorced), Gilbert Carl Balsiger (widowed), and Ronald Lee Stone (widowed).
Beverly was a homemaker and artist. She primarily focused on oil and watercolor landscape painting. She was proud of her decades of sobriety and involvement with AA, and she was a member of and volunteered at Folk Time, a peer support nonprofit community service agency in Portland Oregon. Beverly was a kind, compassionate, and honest person. Beverly dealt with her mental health challenges with courage and a willingness to explore various paths to better health, in both traditional and nontraditional ways. She was surrounded by loving relatives, in particular her double cousin Joanne Helen Seeger who provided a great deal of care and advocacy for Beverly in the last years of her life.
Beverly was preceded in death by her son Philip Walter Plotner; grandson Cody Philip Plotner; sister Carol Louene Alexander, stepbrother Jerry Raymond Alexander; husband Gilbert Carl Balsiger; husband Ronald Lee Stone; father Lucien Barton Alexander; and mother Anita Mabel Gronewald Alexander. Survivors include her son Todd Elmer Balsiger; grandson Kenneth Gilbert Balsiger; grandson Joshua Walter Plotner; brother Stephen Richard Wilcox; sister Susan Jennie Alexander; and many nephews and nieces.
The family has not determined yet when the memorial service will be held.
Donations in lieu of flowers can be made to the Oregon State University Foundation, noting whether the donation is for the Lu Alexander Graduate Fellowship in Forest Mensuration and Biometrics, or the Jerry Raymond Alexander scholarship for deserving Oregon students. Donations can also be made to Folk Time, in Portland Oregon.
