Wednesday morning, August 18th, 8 days after being hospitalized for 'comfort care', she went home to be with Jesus.
Audrey Rae Barnes was born November 12, 1939, in the District of Columbia (Washington D.C.), to Ray and June (Einwechter) Barnes.
Audrey lived in Washington D.C., Tampa, FL, Honolulu, HI, Johnston Island (an atoll in the Pacific Ocean), Southern CA, Estacada, OR, Ramah, NM, and Christmas Valley, OR. She graduated from Chaffee High School in 1957 and married her husband Kenneth D. Heiner (Sr.).
Audrey and Kenneth lived in Southern California when they were blessed with the following children over a span of five years: Kenneth Dwayne (Jr.), Audrey Pearl, Desiree June, and Glen Ray.
Kenneth and Audrey moved the family to the Portland, Oregon area, living in Vancouver for a year before settling down in rural Clackamas County near Estacada, Oregon. The family thrived there until the four children graduated from the Estacada school system.
During this time, Audrey and Kenneth built their home in the country, room-by-room, living a semi-modern pioneer existence with chickens, a milk cow, a goat, and for a while, a horse. Also during this time, the family was blessed with a 'surprise' in their fifth child, Leonard Anthony ('Tony').
Audrey worked as a waitress and caregiver to help support the family while raising her children with a strong hand, and a soft heart for the Gospel Message. She shared the love of Jesus with all her children throughout their lives, and faithfully attended church services whenever possible.
Audrey and Kenneth lived for awhile in Cibola County, New Mexico, and then in Lake County, Oregon. After her husband's untimely death in a farm accident, Audrey continued to raise two adopted grand-daughters.
A loving and devoted wife and mother, Audrey loved Jesus from an early age when her father first took her to church.
Audrey is survived by her children Ken, Audrey, Desiree, Glen, and Tony, fourteen grandchildren, and thirteen great-grandchildren.
In her latter years, Audrey lived for a while in an independent living facility in Portland until cognitive issues challenged her ability to care for herself.
She is hurting no more, and is now rejoicing with family and loved ones who've gone before. She is finally home with Jesus, singing in God's Heavenly Choir.
Our God Reigns -Bless His Holy Name, Jesus
Jesus said He has gone to prepare a place for us who love Him and accept His gift of eternal life.
Oh, What a Happy Day
