She was a survivor of the WW2 German bombing campaign “The Blitz” (Sept 1940-May 1941) and had many stories to tell on what it was like growing up during the war in England. While in school, Ann was quite the athlete and made All City Cricket and Field Hockey Teams. She eventually left Ilford for London and attended Guys Hospital School of Nursing for Midwifery. After nursing school, Ann moved to Canada where she met her future husband Miles on a blind date. Ann married Miles Johnson on June 19, 1965 and together they raised two children, Sarah and Mark.
One of her many passions was working in her English Garden as well as enjoying her grandchildren. She was a member of the Portland Triumph Owners Association, Columbia Gorge MG Club and St. Bartholomew’s Episcopal Church. Ann will also be remembered for her love of traveling, cheering for her local English Football Club, her wicked wit, and a strong cup of afternoon tea, of course.
Ann was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her; children, Sarah (Ryan), Mark (Donna); grandchildren, Pearl and Carter; and many family members in the UK.
A celebration of Ann’s life, English Garden Tea will be scheduled at a later date during the summer.
