Ames Dee was born in Brooklyn, New York to parents, Murray & Anne Schwartzberg, July 23, 1940. She attended College in NY and received her MBA from Stanford Business School in 1975.
She worked for 25 years in the computer industry, served as a Project Manager for Adobe and did freelance technical writing for Adobe Systems, Apple Computer and Sun Microsoft in the Bay area.
Ames attended 3 years of Seminary through the Episcopal Church and was accepted as a candidate for Priesthood, when her Spirituality took her down a more individual path that included writing and art.
In 1997 she retired, moving to Vancouver, Washington to write and create art full time. She was received into the Catholic Church at St. Joseph Parish in 1999 and moved to Portland, OR in 2004, where she ultimately became a parishioner at St. Mary’s Cathedral.
Ames was a published writer, a poet and painter. She drew friends from all walks of life, from the tech industry days, writing workshops and her published works, from her art classes at Clark College, Blipfoto, Yoga, Matt Dishman pool and the cafes around Portland. She maintained long enduring friendships with clergy near and far.
She will be remembered for her laugh, her encouragement to others and her brilliant mind, leaving a legacy of journals, paintings, novels and poems.
Ames passed away due to cancer and at her request, there will be no service.
