Alice Louise Willison, 91, of West Linn, OR, passed away at home on October 26 in her sleep. Alice was the oldest child of Leroy Oliver Pittman and Georgia Kenneth Pittman, and was born in Bixby, Oklahoma. She was the oldest of four children, and was preceded in death by her three brothers, Ross, Bill, and George.
Alice earned a degree in Early Childhood Development from Oklahoma A&M (now Oklahoma State) University. She spent over thirty years shaping young lives as a kindergarten teacher in five different states.
While working as a teacher in Topeka, Kansas, she met a young Air Force photographer in Sunday school, Doug Willison. That began a relationship that lasted through 63 years of marriage.
Alice and Doug travelled widely throughout the western US, and after their kids were grown throughout the world. Their most memorable trips were to China and the Mediterranean.
Alice was an active member and Deacon of the Emmanuel Presbyterian Church in West Linn. She was a long-time member of the bell choir and was very active in the church’s quilting group, providing quilts to church members in need. She was also a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution.
Alice is survived by her husband Doug, her son and daughter-in-law, Jim and Lynn of Aiken, South Carolina, her daughter Nancy, of West Linn, and her grandchildren, Daniel and Megan.
A memorial service will be held for Alice at Emmanuel Presbyterian Church, 19000 Willamette Drive, in West Linn at 2 PM in the afternoon on Thursday, November 2.
