She worked all her life in the food industry as a cook and/or a baker throughout the Portland area at various old-Portland establishments such as Lipmann and Wolfe, Meier and Frank, Charles F. Berg, and Rose's Jewish Deli and Restaurant. The last place of employment was at Kaiser Permanente Hospital, Sunnyside, as lead cook.
She was a very hard worker, but her true devotion was to the work of The Lord Jesus Christ. She was one of the city’s most dynamic prayer warriors, and she insisted that we, her children, were raised on a daily ritual of prayer, and scripture reading and memorization. Minister Adeline Jeffries was an ordained minister, and one of the founding members of the Open Door House of Prayer under the direction of one of the first female Pastors in the city of Portland Oregon, Pastor Ealer Martin. Minister Jeffries performed many weddings, visited numerous jails and hospitals, and also gave many, many hours of service to her own nursing home ministry.
Our Mother loved to travel, and one of her biggest dreams in life was fulfilled when she visited Jerusalem twice in her life, and she would tell any and everyone who took the time to listen to her experiences there.
She lived a very long and prosperous life, and she will truly be missed by all of her family every moment of our lives, especially during this holiday season. Our mom was the life of the celebration!
From two marriages our mom had four children she is survived by her son Elder Oliver Jeffries of Vancouver Washington, her daughters Olivia Jeffries, Benella Wright, and Debra Jean Wright all of Portland, Oregon. Her four grandchildren Oliver D. Jeffries of Beaverton, Oregon, Tony Jeffries of Vancouver Washington, Joshua Vaughn of Portland, Oregon and Janae Harris of Portland, Oregon. She also had a host of great grandchildren, Simone and Katelyn Jeffries of New York, Toni and Maxwell Jeffries of Vancouver, Washington, Sontayjia and Jayden Vaughn of Portland, Oregon, and Brooklyn and Hudson Jeffries of Beaverton Oregon. Also, Nieces and Nephews: Lois Goods of Vancouver Washington, Patricia McDonald, Frank Taylor, Greg Taylor, Melvin Taylor, and David Lewis all of Portland, Oregon and Robert Brown, Jr. of Milwaukie, Oregon.
