Roger James Shoemaker

He was born on July 7, 1947 in Quincy, MA the son of the late Lucy (McMahon) Shoemaker and Lewis William Shoemaker.

He graduated from Portland High School in Portland, ME. After graduation he worked at General Electric (GE) inspecting nuclear power plants, Gowen Marine Inc. as manager and Great Diamond Island as the property manager. He also owned and operated Yerxa’s Lawn and Garden. He served his country in the United States National Guard.

He enjoyed hunting, traveling with his grandchildren and boating on Sebago Lake. Roger truly enjoyed the beauty and tranquility of Sebago Lake where many family functions took place. Roger also enjoyed coin collecting and flying his drone.

Roger was predeceased by his brother Lance Shoemaker and three sisters Jeanne Shoemaker, Margaret (Shoemaker) Rice and Patricia (Shoemaker) Finnemore.

He is survived by his wife, Linda (Foster) Shoemaker of 57 years. Roger is also survived by his daughters Leslie Shoemaker of Portland, ME, Jennifer Shoemaker of Yarmouth, ME, and Jill Enders and her husband Todd of Bradenton, FL; five grandchildren Amelia Searfoss, Gavin JJ Cote, Tyler L Cote, Lance Shoemaker, and Ella Searfoss; his two brothers Terrance Shoemaker and wife Charlotte of Ocala, FL and Stephen Shoemaker and wife April of Oldwick, NJ. Roger also leaves nephew Shawn Shoemaker and wife Jodi of Waterboro, ME, niece Lisa Grear and husband Phil of Naples, FL, nephew John Moon of Falmouth, ME, and many other nieces and nephews.

Family and friends are invited to attend a Celebration of Life on Saturday, June 10, 2023 at 11:00 AM at Jones, Rich & Barnes Funeral Home, 199 Woodford St. Portland, ME. A reception will follow at the Portland Regency Hotel, 20 Milk St. Portland, ME.
