Eighty-seven years young, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend to many, Bob Wyman (aka Bubba) passed away February 22, 2023, at Gosnell Hospice facility in Scarborough, Maine.
Family was the focus of Bob’s life. He and his wife Anne of 66 years, raised their two children, Scott and Nancy in Unity, Maine, retiring to Cumberland, Maine 10 years ago.
Born in Waterville, Maine on December 2, 1935, Bob was the son of W. Rodney and Alice Getchell Wyman of Fairfield. He graduated from Fort Fairfield High School (in the County) and attended Colby College, the American Institute of Banking and Williams College. After serving three years in the US Army, Bob began his banking career at the County Trust Company in Dobbs Ferry, NY. Moving to Unity, Maine to take on the role of bank manager at the Federal Trust Company, through multiple bank mergers he retired as a Vice President for Fleet Bank in Waterville, Maine (now Bank of America).
Bob was an avid golfer, belonging to Waterville Country Club for over twenty-five years, fisherman, hunter, and sports enthusiast. As an active community member, he was a volunteer firefighter, helped start Unity Ambulance service, and was a town assessor. He was a member of the Star in the West Masonic Lodge #85 for over 55 years and a member of Anah Temple Shrine in Bangor, Maine. He was awarded by the Jaycees as an Outstanding Young Man of Maine, later being awarded as Outstanding Young Man of New England.Along with 9 other business leaders in the Unity area, Bob was one of the original Founders of Unity College (now a leading US environmental college). He was also instrumental in developing Unity Leisure Homes and served on the Board of Directors and as Treasurer. He was a long-term Board Member for Unity Telephone Company and served on the Unicel Board of Directors as cellular service came to Maine.
Bob leaves behind his beloved wife Anne of 66 years, his son R. Scott Wyman of Cumberland, ME and Zephyrhills, FL and his daughter Nancy McEnaney of Bellingham, WA., three granddaughters: Alison McEnaney Stewart (Jameson) of New Castle, WA.; Cara Marie McEnaney and two great granddaughters Layla and Nevaeh all of Bellingham, WA.; and Mikayla D Wyman of Windham, Me.The family would like to extend their gratitude to Hospice of Southern Maine and their awesome staff for their care, comfort, and kindness as Bob’s journey here on earth ended.
