Portland – Mary J. Mazziotti 96, passed away on Sept. 9, 2022 after a long illness. She was born in Portland on August 26, 1926, the daughter of John and Angela (Colucci) DiMatteo. Mary attended Portland Schools and later she worked there in the school’s cafeterias for 28 years.
She married her beloved Americo of 65 years before his passing in 2007. Mary really enjoyed spending time with family, and having gatherings with lots of Italian Foods that she loved cooking. She was on a woman’s bowling league with her sister-in-law Colene. After they bowled they would often times go out with others from the league, and get lunch.
Mary would spend many afternoons with her dear cousin Phyllis who lived downstairs from her. She is predeceased by her sister Shirley DiMatteo.
She is survived by her sister Joan DiMatteo of Portland, her children Paulette DiGloria and her husband Frank of Scarborough, John J. Mazziotti and his wife Lisa of Westbrook, Diane Strumph and her husband Clifford of Standish, James Mazziotti of Old Orchard Beach, 5 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.
Family and friends are invited to attend a time of visitation on Wednesday, September 14, 2022 from 4-6 PM at Jones, Rich & Barnes Funeral Home, 199 Woodford St. Portland. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated on Thursday, September 15, 2022 at 11:00 AM at St. Pius Church, 492 Ocean Ave. Portland. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery in South Portland.
