Lucy Ann Esposito died peacefully surrounded by the love of her family on October 13, 2022, after a brief illness. Lucy was born on October 30, 1942 to Louis and Angelina (DiDominicus) Esposito and grew up on Munjoy Hill with her four younger brothers. Lucy graduated from Portland High School in 1961. To quote her senior yearbook “her laugh always brings cheer”. Following high school, Lucy began her career at KeyBank (formerly Canal National Bank). Lucy married Alfred DiFiore, moved to Westbrook, raised two daughters, Christina and Debra while continuing her career at KeyBank until she retired after 45 years. She was loved by her customers, and she could greet them by name.
Lucy spanned the generations, passing on the family’s Italian heritage. She loved to visit family and friends in the community, often with her daughters in tow, preserving the family memories and connections that still endure today. Big Italian Sunday dinners were one of her favorites. Her cooking and baking skills were second to none. Her specialties were homemade spaghetti sauce, meatballs, fried chicken and chocolate chip cookies with lots of walnuts. Lucy had a passion for shopping, and never missed a good sale. She was always dressed in the latest fashion, with her hair and makeup done to perfection. In her youth, she loved to dance and throughout her life she was often the life of the party, never missing a chance to make a joke or hear the latest gossip.
In addition to her parents, Lucy was predeceased by her brother John Esposito, MD. Lucy is survived by her two daughters, Christina (DiFiore) Martel and husband James, Debra (DiFiore) Geren and husband Matthew; six grandchildren: Noah, Sydney, Jacob, Hannah, Laura and Sara; 3 brothers: Anthony Esposito, MD and wife Tova, Joseph Esposito, Louis Esposito Jr. and wife Lauren; and 4 nieces and nephews.
