Kevin attended schools in East Hampton, N.Y., Windham, Maine, and Westbrook, Maine. He graduated from Westbrook High, class of 1979. Upon graduating Kevin worked in various fields including, sail-making, and window fabrication. He was also an entrepreneur, trying his hand at various endeavors such as, bread route-sales, and window installations and insulation. Kevin worked the last 20 years as a manufacturing technician at NSC / Texas Instruments.
Along Kevin’s journey through life he made innumerable life-long friendships, and was well regarded by all of us who were fortunate to be included in his very large circle of family and friends. With his mischievous smile, and easy-going manner, he endeared himself to the many who knew him. Kevin was a kind and honest man, and had a well-developed sense of humor, that would leave you wondering if the joke was on you.
Kevin was an avid outdoorsman with a passion for fishing. At times, it was said, that he would fish before work, after work, and even during work. For many years he was a fixture in Portland Little League. Coaching kids was a talent and passion that was an integral part of his being. He also loved to explore old abandoned home-sites and the like with his metal detector, collecting old coins and artifacts.
Kevin is survived by his partner of 11 years, Teresa Ehlers; his daughter, Samantha Haskell; his granddaughter, Cassady Mather; his father, Tod Young; brothers, Brad Young, Tom Baker, and Charlie Baker. He was predeceased by his mother Virginia. He is also remembered by, many uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews.
To honor Kevin, a public memorial service followed by a reception will be held Saturday, June 17th at 1pm, at West Falmouth Baptist Church, 18 Mountain Rd., Falmouth, ME 04105, as well as a celebration of life at a later date.
