Windham - Joanne Elizabeth Waters of Windham passed away a few minutes after 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 11th. Her final moments were spent at home surrounded by family members, as well as in the hearts and minds of countless others not present but fortunate enough to know her.
Joanne leaves behind no one. It was not in her compassionate nature to do so. Everyone she loved, helped or shared faith with will continue to walk with her in very genuine and unique ways during the course of their own lives. A light as bright as Joanne’s is never truly extinguished.
Some of those who remain – and experienced Joanne’s tireless love, creative inspiration and optimism – include her husband of nearly 59 years, Thomas Waters. Sr., four sons (Matthew (and his wife, Wendy), Thomas Jr., Michael and Ronald (and his wife, Carolyn)), 10 grandchildren (Amanda, Garrett, Angel, Heidi, Jake, Janessa, Julia, Christopher, Scott, and Thomas Sr.), 12 great grandchildren (Matthew, Kristin, Ryan, Brennan, Gavin, Brooke, Hailey, Wesley, Liam, Joanna, Ivy and Zeke), one great grandson soon to be born (Thomas, Jr.), sisters Barbara and Patricia, and brothers Robert and Donald.
Joanne was born on the 21st of March, 1941.
This day should be celebrated not only as her beginning, but also the beginning of many other cherished lives that were to follow. Joanne’s life and its true meaning to so many others is best understood through the words of America composer, Irving Berlin:
“The song is ended but the melody lingers on…”
