He was born in Portland on April 21, 1940 to the late James Irving and Nellie (Buckley) Sawyer. Frank grew up in Portland, attending local area schools. On October 27, 1990 he married his loving wife of 31 years Helen M (Foster) Sawyer.
In 1968 Frank joined the United States Marines and was a Vietnam veteran, he received an honorable discharge in 1974 and was very proud of having served his country.
He then went on to work for Carr Bros. as a truck driver, which he did for many years; he then went to work for James Diphillipo at Ye Old Pancake Kitchen in Portland were he would stay for 18 years.
Frank loved doing many things after retirement; some of his favorite things were playing the harmonica and spoons, watching old westerns, collecting movies and singing along to some of his favorite music artists like elvis and johnny cash, singing karaoke, spending time with family and friends and he loved his lottery scratch tickets (always hoping to win the big one)
He is survived by his wife Helen M. Sawyer , 3 sons Frank and his wife Mary of Auburn, Marty and his wife of Lewiston, Rick and his fiance' of Greene, his step-son Danny and his wife Shelly of Buxton and 1 daughter Katy and her husband Bertel of Windham.
Frank is predeceased by his brother Lewis and 3 sisters, Gladys, Edna, and Delores all of Portland, and is survived by 1 sister Victoria Conley of Scarborough. He also leaves 19 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
There will be a celebration of life on February 27, 2022 from 1-5 at the Windham Veterans' Center behind Hannaford at 35 Veterans Memorial Drive, Windham.
At a later date to be announced there will be a military ceremony at the Veterans' Cemetery, Augusta
In lieu of flowers any monetary donations would go to helen his wife.
