Evelyn Titus Hall, 93, passed away peacefully on October 4th, 2023. She was the daughter of Harold R. Titus and Elizabeth Lindsay Titus, both of Prospect Street, Berlin, NH. Evelyn graduated from Berlin High School and received her Bachelor’s degree from Boston University, Sargeants College. It was while she was in college that she met her future husband, Richard (Dick) Hall, and in 1952 they were married. Together they had four children, Douglas Lane, Christine Lindsay, Steven Kendall and Marcia Lynn.
As a young girl, Evelyn was introduced and taught by her parents the many skills involved enjoying the outdoors. The results of this knowledge was that Evelyn became a camp counselor, waterfront director, for several years encompassing summer months during her late high school and early college years. As a young mother she passed on these skills to her children. Later in life, she became a girl scout leader and had fun sharing this knowledge with her scouts through walk-abouts and scavenger hunts.
Evelyn loved her family dearly, but when her children had all entered school, she developed a second passion and this was painting. After a few years of lessons, she was off on her own. Her favorite median was oil on canvas and among her favorite subjects painted were various aquatic wildlife and landscapes. For the rest of her life, Evelyn would be seen painting and on occasion teaching others her skill. She was also was very active with the Guild of her church, the Methodist and Congregational Church as well as volunteering her time creating fundraising events which were well attended for the hospital in Berlin.
After her husband retired from James River, formally Brown Company, she and Dick spent the winter months near the Atlantic coast of North Florida and the summer months mostly at their summer home on Lake Winnipesaukee; although for a relatively short time they lived on Crescent Lake in Wolfeboro, NH. Her last eight years, she lived with her husband, (deceased 2022) in Old Orchard Beach, ME.
Evelyn is survived by three of her four children, her eldest son, Douglas having passed away in 2015. Her remaining children are Christine H. Prusinowski, her husband Marty, Steven K. Hall and Marcia L. Hall, her husband Daniel LaMarche and daughter-in-law, Cathy Hall (Douglas’ widow). She was also blessed with five beautiful granddaughters, three sweet great-granddaughters and one great-grandson.
As per her request, there will be no memorial services. Interment will be at Horse Meadow Cemetery in North Haverill, NH.
