Diane O'Kelly

As a graduate of Deering High, Diane became an adopted member of the Portland High family through her three children. She went on to graduate from the University of Maine in Orono with a degree in microbiology, which she put to use in finding her husband, John, at her first post-grad job. Diane went on to spend twenty plus years working for LL Bean where she made lifelong friends. She enjoyed gardening, spending time with her family on the slopes of Sunday River and sitting dock side at Long Lake enjoying every sunset she could. She had an organic ability to bring people together and her greatest joy was being surrounded by friends and family new and old.

Diane is survived by her loving husband John O’Kelly, three devoted children Ryan, Kristin and Brett, as well as her parents, Connie and Ed Ryan, siblings Carol Ryan-Ertz, Mike and Neil Ryan, their spouses and her respective nieces and nephews. She will be joining her brother, Kevin Ryan, in a better place.

Visitation hours will be held on Wednesday June 7th, from 4-7pm at Jones, Rich & Barnes Funeral Home followed by a celebration of life on Thursday June 8th at 11am at St. Joseph’s Parish in Portland.

In lieu of flowers the family kindly asks that a donation be sent to Portland High School for a scholarship that will be established in Diane’s name.
