Born in Manhattan, NY, Will was a resident of Port St. Lucie, FL for 19 years, moving from Loudonville, NY.
Prior to retirement, Mr. Childe was Regional Sales Manager for Southland Foods and Hot Stuff Foods in New York, and then worked part time for Frito Lay in Florida.
Will was of the Protestant faith; a former member of the PSL Yacht Club, and of the Portuguese American Cultural Club of Port St. Lucie. Mr. Childe was the first person to allow girls to play Little League and as a result he spent many hours in court fighting for the rights of girls to play alongside the boys.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Edwin Childe and Cynthia Brecker and brother, Edwin Ogden Childe.
Survivors include his wife of 36 years, Maria Monteiro-Childe of Port St. Lucie, FL; children, Bryan Wellington Childe (Ali Kamen) of Port St. Lucie, FL, Karen Dobrzenski (Larry) of New York, Carol Brooks of Nevada, Edwin Childe (Rebecca Strickland) of Florida, Jeff Childe (Kim Collins) of Michigan, David Childe (Patti) and Mark Childe, both of New York; His wonderful and loving sister, Patricia Carpenter (Clifford) of New York, nieces and nephews and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He is also survived by his mother-in-law Natalia Monteiro, his great friends and brothers-in-law, John Monteiro (Sue) and Mario Monteiro.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held Monday, February 9, 2015, 7:00PM at the Aycock Funeral Home, 1504 SE Floresta Drive, Port St. Lucie, FL.
