Ruthlyn "Daisy" Reid

Ruthlyn Albertha Reid was born in Kingston Jamaica April 20th 1921 to David Dunkley and Ida Morgan-Thomas. She attended school in Jamaica and soon after became a seamstress. She later met and married Leon Waldermore Reid on June 10th 1942, and was blessed with two sons Dunstan Leon Reid and Ronald Victor Reid.

The family then moved to Panama in 1946, and settled in Rio Abajo. In 1948, she had her third child, Gloria Constancia Reid-Blackburn.

Ruthlyn relocated to the United States of America in 1969 where she resided in Manhattan and later moved to Brooklyn, NY.

During these early years she worked in the Garment District and later studied to be a nursing attendant and worked in that field until she retired in 1988. She again relocated with her husband to Port Saint Lucie Florida in 1990, where they purchased a home and presently resides.

Her favorite past time was being with the family and playing games, but most of all engaging in difficult crossword puzzles with her husband. She also enjoyed cooking and baking, sewing for the family, crocheting and cruising with the family.

She enjoyed music and singing and remembered the lyrics to many songs and Psalms.

Ruthlyn in survived by her husband of 70 years Leon Reid, her eldest Dunstan Reid and his wife Shelia Reid, her daughter Gloria Blackburn and her husband Donald Blackburn and the wife of her late son Carlota Reid. She is also survived by her 5 grandchildren, Renata Reid, Roxanna Reid, Leon Reid and wife Mariann Reid, Xenia Balkaran and her husband BeeshamBalkaran and Ronald Kevin Reid and his wife Kerwin Reid. She also has 9 great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild and several cousins, nieces, nephews and beloved friends.

Viewing will be on Tuesday March 12, 2013 from 10:00 to 11:00AM at Aycock Funeral Home Port St Lucie, FL. Services will be held at 11:00AM. An interment to follow at All Saints Cemetery, Jensen Beach, FL.
