Born in Winston Salem, North Carolina, Myrtle was a resident of Port St. Lucie, FL for 38 years, moving from Wheaton, MD.
Prior to retirement, Mrs. Lewis was employed at the National Institute of Health in Bethesda, MD.
She was a volunteer for the Salvation Army; and loved making Candy Baskets for special needs children.
Survivors include her husband of 66 years, Robert A. Lewis of Port St. Lucie, FL; one son, Robert L. Lewis and wife Sherrill of Delray Beach, FL; one sister, Faith Bryant of Atlanta, GA; and one step-grandson Sean Wilkinson.
She was preceded in death by a brother, William Veyhl, Jr., and grandson Mark Steven Lewis.
Friends and family may call Friday, September 23, 2011 from 11:30AM -12:30AM at the Aycock Funeral Home Chapel in Port St. Lucie, FL. A Service will follow Friday, September 23, 2011 at 12:30PM at the funeral home. Burial will be at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens, Fort Pierce, FL.
