Born September 5, 1929 in Johnstown, PA; son of George W. and Mazie (Shaffer) Petry.
During the Korean War, Mel served in the US Army. Prior to retirement, he was a bricklayer in the building industry. Mel is a member of Port Saint Lucie Christian Church and at one time had been a deacon.
Survivors include his wife, Eva Petry and daughter ReNae Petry of Port Saint Lucie, FL; brother, Robert Petry and wife Blanche, along with two sisters-in-law, Hazel and Vivian Petry of Johnstown, PA. He was preceded in death by brothers, Sanford, Eugene, George and sister-in-law, Lorraine Petry.
Mel was loved deeply and will be greatly missed by wife and daughter.
A Memorial Service will be held January 10, 2015, 2:00PM at Port Saint Lucie Christian Church, 1420 SE Floresta Drive, Port St. Lucie, FL 34983.
