Melinda Gayle (McCown) St. Marie, August 8, 1950 – August 8, 2023. Linda (Katrina, LindieWindie), 73, of Port St. Lucie, FL passed away on Tuesday, August 8, 2023, surrounded by her family and close friends. She was born on August 8, 1950 (no that’s not a typo, she left this earth the same day she graced us with her presence) in Ashland, KY. She was the daughter of the late Thomas McCown and Kathleen McCown Chaney from Raceland, KY.
Linda is survived by her loving son Michael Blevins, of Port St. Lucie, FL; a granddaughter, IsaBella Blevins of Dallas, TX; three siblings, Darrell (Tammy) McCown, of Keller, TX; Pam (Gary) Shockey, of Ashland, KY; and Kristie McCown Daniel, of Lexington, KY. She also is survived by nieces, Leigh Ann (Mike) Perdue, Dedra (Michael) Bass, Mandy Jo Shockey, Katelyn (Jamie) Flynn, and several great nieces and great nephews.
A short time after graduating from Raceland High School in 1968, Linda headed south to West Palm Beach, FL, which became home for 47+ years. She worked hard, holding three jobs at times to make ends meet. She was currently working as the Office Manager for Palm Beach Refrigeration in West Palm Beach, FL. I’m sure we all know she ran the place!
Linda is the most beautiful mother, loyal sister, and friend, and had a heart of gold. In her mind, she was an accomplished singer (IYKYK) for those of us who had the pleasure of attending. She was a fantastic cook and loved to host get-togethers. At times she would help with local charities and host meals at her home for those less fortunate. She loved traveling and couldn't get enough of the beach and Disney. She loved the arts and crafts fairs and festivals, finding new local restaurants, going to the Keys, and of course, her famous "White Russians." She also enjoyed decorating and shopping and let us not forget her passion for anything related to Hallmark movies, all four Hallmark channels. She had a green thumb and loved doing anything in the yard. Every day with her was an adventure!
Linda was immensely proud of her family and her love for all will last a lifetime. She will be deeply missed by all that had the opportunity to know her.
