Gene, as she was known by friends and family, was born on December 30, 1922 in Revere, MA. She attended school there and worked as an operator for New England Telephone, and then as a reservationist for Northeast Airlines before moving to Hallandale, FL in 1973 with her beloved husband Fran. In 1978, the couple moved to Port St. Lucie, FL where they became avid square dancers and members of the Spanish Lakes Riverfront Bridge Club.
Gene was a devout Catholic and very active in St. Lucie Catholic Church, the St. Vincent DePaul Thrift Shop and Hibiscus House. She was always willing to lend a helping hand, a listening ear, a warm hug and a sparkling Irish smile.
Sadly, in October, 2009, Gene was predeceased by Fran, her loving husband of 66 years. In February 2010, her beloved eldest son William (Bill) Miret passed away. She was also predeceased by her parents, Daniel and Nellie (Kelley) Driscoll, her sister Mary Driscoll (Jeff) Harris and brothers Daniel and Thomas Driscoll.
She is survived by her son Paul Miret and his wife Karen of Port St. Lucie,; daughter-in-law George Ann Miret of Fayetteville, GA; grandchildren Christopher Miret and son Brady, Jeffrey Miret and wife Jennifer, their sons Justin and Jeremy all of Port St. Lucie. She also leaves behind her cherished sister Eileene (Joseph) Sherriff of Revere, MA, and sister-in-law Doris Driscoll Daniel of Reading, MA, along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Gene will always be remembered for her free-loving spirit, care, concern and thoughtfulness for her family and friends.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to St. Lucie Catholic Church, 280 Northwest Prima Vista Boulevard, Port St. Lucie, FL 34983
A Mass of Christian burial will be at St. Lucie Catholic Church on Wednesday June 6th, 2012 at 10 AM.
