Eileen Millicent Henry (nee Williams) was delivered in birth in the parish of Westmoreland, Jamaica, West Indies, on September 4, 1930, by Edna McLean (nee Richardson). She was the second of three siblings, a beautiful, kind and happy child who was adored by her siblings and cousins, some of whom survived her and still express the same love, respect and admiration for her today. The most commonly heard characteristic is that she never had a mean bone in her body, always pleasant, helpful, generous, faithful, loyal and loving. She worked her way to becoming a young teacher when she met the love of her life, her late husband, Aston Henry, with whom she had three children, Victoria, Reynard and Clover.
Mrs. Henry migrated to the United States in 1964, residing in Bronxville, New York, until she moved to Crown Heights, Brooklyn. With her family intact in America, she moved mountains, in times of joy and grief, in moments that would cause a less spiritual being to buckle and cave, to guide, support and protect her children and grandchildren. She was a woman of unshakable faith, who kept all her loved ones in prayer each day. Her church was her second home and charity was one of her passions but, other than her Redeemer, her family, immediate and extended, was at the center of all that she did. She worked for the Bell Telephone system in New York and then in Florida, to which she relocated in 1979, until her retirement from AT&T in 2000.
Eileen was a culinary master, a homemaker with unmatched skills in home decorating and creativity which she demonstrated in 3 homes she owned. She was a strong woman of God with a fierce love of Jesus, clearly evident in her parenting and in her life with her husband. Love permeated her entire life and she taught her family, without hesitation, to choose love regardless of the circumstances. That mantle she wore with great pride and joy until she was called to the Mercy Seat, into the Everlasting Arms of her Lord.
She is survived by her 3 children, her brother, Noel Harding, 4 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, 1 great-great grandson, several nieces and nephews, cousins, god-children and innumerable friends.
