Ed was born in Parkersburg, WV to Gail Stokes and Frances Kesterson Stokes and was raised in Belpre, Ohio. He was extremely proud of his several years serving as a police officer in both Fort Pierce, FL and Sebring, OH. He retired from the State of Florida Department of Juvenile Justice in 2004.
Ed enjoyed photography, fishing and tinkering with electronics and computers. He enjoyed this so much that he became a self – taught computer technician. Ed will be remembered for his intelligence and ability to communicate across any obstacle. He had an open-door policy for all he cared for, and he cared for many. He was a great storyteller and loved to share his experiences. He put his love for his family before all else, making sure he said “I love you” every night, whether in person or in a text, just so you would know he was thinking of you.
He is survived by his wife, Eva Apple Stokes; his daughter, Davita Stokes Mastroff; his granddaughter, Raechel Mastroff; sister-in-law, Karen Hewitt and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his beloved son-in-law, Russell Mastroff, his parents, his sister, Eileen Stokes Moody and niece, Debbie Moody.
There will be a Celebration of Life on Friday, September 20, 2019, from 3-6pm at Aycock Funeral Home 1504 SE Floresta Drive Port St Lucie, FL 34983. Please attend to share your memories and experiences or leave a message below for the family.
