Donald Lloyd St. Elmo McDonald arrived in the world on August 7,1958 on the beautiful island of Kingston, Jamaica to Maurice and Mabel McDonald. He was a curious child with a memory unlike any other. Donald remembered events as far back as when he was two years old. He attended Vaz Preparatory School where he excelled in all subject areas.
After immigrating to the United States he continued his education at Andrew Jackson High. His love for music enabled him to participate in his high school band where he enjoyed playing the trumpet. He eventually formed a band of his own with a group of his friends. They played at various functions and events.
Upon graduation his love for adventures led him to enlist in the United States Air Force. Donald developed an insatiable appetite and appreciation for travel. Japan became his second home as he was stationed there for approximately twelve years. Ranked as a Master Sergeant, his profession in the Force was as an aircraft hydraulic engineer. He excelled in his craft and participated in numerous joint Army/Air Force training in Korea, Okinawa, Philippines, Thailand, and Guam. This enabled him to supervise and train junior members in his specialty. He deployed on numerous missions for the 19th Operations: NORTHERN WATCH, SOUTHERN WATCH, PHOENIX SCORPION, AND ALLIED FORCE, DESERT SHIELD/STORM touching the soil of Korea, Okinawa, Philippines, Thailand, Guam, France, Turkey, Spain, and Italy. His awards include the Air Force Commendation Medal (two oak leaf clusters), the Air Force Achievement Medal, the Air Force Outstanding Unit Award (four oak leaf clusters), the Air Force Good Conduct Medal (silver cluster), and the National Defense Service Medal. Having served his time he retired with honors.
Donald leaves behind his loving mother Mabel, aunt Paulette McDonald, sisters Charmaine and Marcia, nephew Steven, niece Nicole a/k/a Nick, his godson David, cousins Paulette, Patricia (Vincent), Yvette, David, Richard, Karen, Niquette, Vincent Jr., Lisa, Keisha, Kristi, Marcus, Naomi, N’Tasha, Nakia, Rosie, Sybil, Carlene, Jennifer, Juliet, Sharon, and a host of other aunts, uncles, cousins and friends to mourn his loss.
