Ann Breitfelder, passed away on Saturday, November 26, 2022. Ann was born on August 2, 1938 in Cincinnati, Ohio, to Percival Louis and Anna Arand where she received 12 years of Catholic education. Ann graduated from Our Lady of Angels Catholic High School in 1956.
On April 11, 1959, Ann married the boy across the street, John “Ed” Breitfelder, and together they had 4 children, Julie, John, Joyce and Jeanne.
Ed, Ann and family moved to Miami, Florida in 1967, where he continued his engineering career and she was the mother working at Holy Family Treat Days and volunteering at church. The whole family loved living in Florida and made it their home for over 49 years.
Ann was lucky enough to work for Carl DeSantis as he started his “Sundown Vitamins” company out of his garage. She eventually ran his Mail Order Department and then his Phone Order activities. She retired from Sundown Vitamins in 1996, When her husband, Ed, entered the Diaconate Program and after many years had to go back to school (writing papers, studying, giving presentations), Ann worked and studied alongside him to grow in their faith together.
Ed was ordained a Permanent Deacon in the Archdiocese of Miami on November 17, 2001 with a very proud Ann by his side. They jointly and faithfully served throughout South Florida at St. Maximillian Kolbe for 6 years, St. Bernadette for 7.5 years, and St. Lucie since February 2014. Ann loved Ed and loved her new role as “Deacon Ed’s wife” working in the RCIA, running the Eucharistic Ministers program or delivering “Jesus” in the Eucharist to the Homebound.
They celebrated a very long and “loving” life together. When Ed died on April 6, 2016, Ann was embraced by her St. Lucie Church family by the priests, the Church office and her 3 rd Order St. Francis Community. They completely and thoroughly supported her in a tremendous way. She threw herself into serving Jesus and went to daily Mass, breakfast with her friends, greeting the Homebound and hopping on the treadmill at LA Fitness to get 45 minutes of walking.
She loved all of those around her and had a passion for life, her children and most of all her grandkids that she adored! She lived her life for others and now she is with her husband, Ed, in the arms of Jesus!
Ann is survived her children Julie Parker (Bruce), John Breitfelder, Joyce Vonada (Trace), Jeanne Harlow (Ed); his grandchildren Lauren, Joshua, Nicole, Jenna, Kimberly, Jessica, Lexi, Eric and Dylan. Ann was predeceased by her sister, Marie Kromer, and brothers, Edward, Robert, Arthur, Clarence, and
Louis and survived by her brother, Richard (Dick).
Memorial services will be held at St. Lucie Catholic Church, Port St. Lucie, FL on December 16th from 2 to 4:30 PM.
The Mass will be held at St. Lucie Catholic Church on December 17 th at 11a.m.
