Michael Alan Buwa, age 70, of Port Orange Florida, left this world September 13, 2021, in his home due to complications with his long battle with cancer.
Michael was born in Mishawaka, Indiana, to John C. and Theresa M. Buwa. He grew up with his only sibling, Timothy Buwa, and his cousin, Beverly Buwa Conard. Michael graduated from Mishawaka High School. Shortly after graduation, he got drafted into the Air Force as a Weapons Mechanic which led to an honorable career as an Aircraft Armament Systems Specialist. During his time in the Air Force, Michael had the opportunity to travel around the world in Germany, England, Vietnam, and many other beautiful places. Michael retired from the Air Force after seven and a half years of service with several awards and accommodations throughout his career. Although Michael was a jack of many trades. He was also employed at Valdosta Technical Institute in Valdosta, Georgia, for almost 20 years before he retired.
Michael also had a loving and supportive family by his side. In his mid 20’s, Michael met his love, Judy Mae Williams Buwa (deceased), through their common interest in fast cars and street racing. During their 45 years of marriage, they were blessed with three children: Jason M Buwa (deceased), Theresa D Buwa Watts (Chris Diaz), and John A Buwa (Holly). He also has eight grandchildren: Thomas Buwa, Andrew Watts, Candice Watts, Shani Cocina-Kitchen, Zachary Diaz, Sean Diaz, Haley Diaz, Tara Page-Littrell, and Sierra Stonerock. Lastly, he has two great grandchildren: Jason Page and Julliette Littrell.
In his late 60’s, Michael was blessed to find love again with Avis Benoit Buwa. For the past 4 years, they shared their passion for God through Spruce Creek Baptist Church where they are faithful members. He enjoyed stargazing by the Lake at The Veterans Memorial Park with Avis, playing with Sassy the cat, and spending time with his two step children: Donald Dickens (Barbara), and Clifton Benoit (Daynielle). He also had five grandchildren: Laci Aurand, Kristian Dickens, Colin Dickens, Aubrey Benoit, and Miles Benoit and six great grandchildren: Madelyn, Allisa, Reef, Zeus, Azule, and Roland.
A Celebration of Life is being held September 20, 2021, at 1300 - 1500 (1 pm - 3 pm) at the Volusia Memorial Funeral Home, 4815 Clyde Morris Blvd, Port Orange, Florida 32129. Pastor Steve Loy will officiate. Flowers, donations, and condolences will be accepted.
