James H. Oyler, Jr., better known as Jimbo, passed away Monday, April 27, 2020 in Daytona Beach, at the age of 25. Born in the same hospital he passed away at, James grew up in the Deland area and was a 2012 graduate of Deland High School. Growing up, he was active in karate, earning his junior black belt, and was a member of the Deland High swim team. A dreamer and a joker, Jimbo loved to make people laugh. Often regarded as a kind soul, he leaves behind many friends and a large family – including his parents, James and Angie, siblings Ladd and LaSandra, grandmothers Mary Lou Novella and Sandra Smith, girlfriend Karla, and a host of aunts, uncles, and cousins. Jimbo attended Florida Technical College, earning his PCT certification, before changing his focus to another one of his many interests. Most recently, he could be found working at Lowe’s. Whether it was something he learned online, or heard about from one of his friends, he was always engaged with some new project – whether it be traveling, building things, or trying to find that which he wanted most out of life. James’ spirit will live on in the many lives he touched, and will touch through organ donation. A Celebration of his Life will be held at a later date. Please feel free to share your own stories of Jimbo, memories, or photos below.
