He was born in Athol, Massachusetts on January 8, 1940 to Albert and Bertha (Duguay). In 1957, Gene graduated from Notre Dame High School in Fitchburg, MA and later earned an Associate of Science degree from Mt. Wachusett Community College in 1975 and a Bachelor of Science degree from Fitchburg State College in 1978.
He married Lana (Gallant) Alliott on July 26,1969.
He was a disabled American veteran and retired after twenty years in the US Navy, serving aboard three ships and earning the National Defense Service Medal, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal (Cuba), Vietnam Service Medal, and Vietnam Campaign Medal.
In 2000, he and Lana retired and moved to Port Orange, Fl. A devout Catholic, he was a member of Our Lady of Hope Church and a Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus. He also served on the board for Port Orange Friends of the Library.
He leaves his wife, Lana (Gallant) Alliott , his daughter, Lisa Alliott of South Daytona, his sister Patricia Rhodes, two grandchildren, two great grandchildren, and his beloved dog, Pooh.
Mass will be at 8:30 am Thursday July 13 at Our Lady of Hope on Clyde Morris Blvd. in Port Orange, with a military burial following at 2:00 pm at Cape Canaveral National Cemetery in Mims, FL.
Volusia Memorial Funeral Home of 4815 Clyde Morris Blvd., Port Orange, is assisting the family.
