She met Jimmy Myers of Knoxville on a blind date, and in 1947 they married. In 1959 Jim transferred from Knoxville to Chicago, where the family resided until 1970. That year, they decided to relocate to Daytona Beach, where they vacationed many times through the years. After relocation, they established a successful business, Myers Cleaners, with South Daytona and Port Orange locations. After selling their business, Betty and Jim retired and enjoyed many wonderful years in the Daytona area and were also fortunate to travel extensively. After 61 years of marriage, Jim died in 2008.

She also served as a 25-year volunteer arbitrator with the State Attorney's Office Juvenile Arbitration Program and was honored by that office as the 1998 Volunteer of the Year. She remained active with many other organizations in Knoxville, Chicago, and the Daytona Beach area throughout her life. Betty and Jim were members of Westminster By-the-Sea Presbyterian Church in Daytona Beach Shores.
In 2010 Betty married Joe Brooks of Ormond Beach, whom she met on the internet while communicating over the passing of a mutual acquaintance. They were surprised to learn they had worked at the same newspaper in Knoxville, Tennessee, when younger and, although not a large enterprise, their paths never previously crossed. They were fortunate to have eleven beautiful years together, enjoying travel, family, and active participation in their church and community.
