Pete Lerma, at the age of 100 passed away Sunday, March 2, 2014 at The Stevens Health Care and Rehab in Yoakum, TX. He was born on August 20, 1913 in the Hammon Community of Gonzales County to Fermin and Luz Pena Lerma.
His quick wit and sense of humor helped him form many wonderful friendships. He was an awesome dad and loving husband. Pete retired from Alcoa, was a member of St. Ann’s Catholic Church and was also a 4th degree Knight Council 3253.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his sweet wife Otilia Garza Lerma; his brother, Ben Elizondo, Fred Lerma and sisters, Narcisa Rivera and Tomasita Lerma.
He is survived by two sisters, Santos Lugo and Sarah Rodriguez. In addition to his sisters, he is survived by his loving daughters, Lucy Martinez and husband Rudy, Sylvia Badillo and husband Mario; two granddaughters, Anna Lisa Martinez and Dana Marie Yendrey and husband Leo; two great-granddaughters, Cassie Amador and Tori Amador; 4 great-great-grandchildren, Dayton, Brynlee, Fisher and Gracelynn Asdahl and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, March 5, 2014 from 5-7 p.m. with a rosary to begin a 7 at Richardson-Colonial Funeral Home. Funeral Mass will be at Our Lady of the Gulf Catholic Church in Port Lavaca on Thursday, March 6, 2014 at 10 a.m. with Father Tommy Chen officiating. Interment will follow in Greenlawn Gardens.
Pallbearers are John Lerma, Rudy Rodriguez, Sam Lerma, David Lugo, Joe Lugo and Frank Nino.
