Jovita M. Guzman, 96, of Port Lavaca passed away and went to be with her Lord and Savior on September 18, 2014. She was born July 15, 1918 in Charco, TX to the late Lucio and Esther Martinez. She was a Homemaker and member of Our Lady of the Gulf. She was also a member of the Sacred Heart, sang in the church choir and volunteered for numerous civic activities.
She is survived by her daughter, Rebecca Loum of Port Lavaca; sons, Antonio Guzman Jr. of Richmond, VA, Maximilian Guzman of Cincinnati, OH and Robert L. Guzman of Pasadena, TX; 8 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Antonio Rios Guzman; parents; 1 sister; 3 brothers and 1 grandson.
Visitation will be Sunday, September 21, 2014 from 5-7 p.m. at Richardson-Colonial Funeral Home with a rosary to begin at 7 p.m. Funeral Mass will be Monday, September 22, 2014 at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of the Gulf Catholic Church with Father Antonio officiating. Burial will follow in Port Lavaca Cemetery.
Pallbearers are Erroll Guerra, Jason Camacho, Art Ramirez, Johnny Salas, Gerardo Escobar and Ernest Guzman.
