Emma Jean Dumas, a beloved matriarch of Port O'Connor, peacefully passed away at her home on March 11, 2024, at the remarkable age of 100. Born on October 22, 1923, in Iola, Texas, she was the cherished daughter of Charles C. and Emma Bell Tucker Cobb.
Emma Jean's life was marked by dedication and service, particularly in the field of education. Armed with a Master's degree in teaching, she embarked on a fulfilling career as an educator within the Pasadena School District. Her passion for nurturing young minds left an indelible mark on countless students who passed through her classroom doors.
A devout Baptist, Emma Jean's faith was a guiding light throughout her life, providing her with strength and solace in times of joy and sorrow alike. She lived a life exemplifying the virtues of kindness, compassion, and unwavering faith.
Emma Jean is survived by her loving children, John C. Dumas and Susan Dumas, who were her pride and joy. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Harrell Fisher Dumas, as well as her parents and her sisters, Wyoma Chaffin and Mary Cole.
Her passing leaves a void in the hearts of all who knew her, but her legacy of love, wisdom, and generosity will continue to inspire and uplift those whose lives she touched.
