Daniel Vincent Ibrom, Sr., 90, of Port Lavaca, TX passed peacefully to his eternal life on June 14, 2024. He was born in DeWitt County to Leon and Veronica Ibrom on April 19, 1934. He married his sweetheart Helen Lesikar on February 8, 1958 at Our Lady of the Gulf Catholic Church in Port Lavaca.
Daniel had a passion for driving and began his career as a truck driver for Bauer Dredging. He changed his career and trained as a welder and continued his work with C. F. Bean Corp. He made many long-time friends in his career there including a group of young men that he interned in the welding industry. They still comment on the great teacher/boss he was to them. He was also employed with King Fisher where he met and worked with his son-in-law Jorma. After his career with formal organizations, Daniel decided to open his own welding service as his night and weekend side jobs began to grow. Through Daniel Ibrom Welding service, he became well known to farmers and cattle ranchers in the area.
He was preceded in death by his parents Leon and Veronica Ibrom, his wife Helen Ibrom, his son Danny Ibrom, his son-in-law Ron Abraham and his granddaughter Ashley Abraham.
He is survived by his sister Catherine Kolodziejczyk, his brothers David (Patsy), Robert (Shirley) and Eugene Ibrom and his daughters Debbie Abraham and Susie Verheijen (Jorma). Paw Paw is survived by his grandchildren Nicholas (Destiny), Christopher (Lacey), Amanda (Aaron), Michael (Audrey), Jeremy (Raven), Bryan (Sheryl), Greg (Sylvia), and Danielle (Dustin) along with his great grandchildren Hailey, Korbyn, Dereck, Jarrod, Zaine, Ian, Reid, Kai, Owen, Bryson, Zachary, Elijah, Lela, Reyna, Tucker, Riley and Ezra.
A visitation from 5-7pm and rosary at 7pm will be held at Richardson/Colonial funeral home in Port Lavaca on Tuesday, June 25. A funeral will be held at Our Lady of the Gulf Catholic church on Wednesday, June 26 at 10am with Father Tommy Chen officiating. Burial will be held at a later date with a memorial mass.
Pallbearers will be his grandsons Nicholas, Christopher, Michael, Jeremy, Bryan, Greg, Dustin and Aaron. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Our Lady of the Gulf Catholic Church.
The family wishes to extend their sincere gratitude to all of his medical and nursing providers including Dr. John Wright and FNP Destiny Ibrom, caregivers Maria, Melinda, Gabriel, Allissa, Tina, Rosa and the team at Calhoun Home Health Care. Thank you for your constant attention and love for our dad.
Daniel was an inspiration to all and his legacy, words of wisdom and sweet memories will be cherished forever.
