Noah Anthony Stiles Jr., of Port Jefferson Station, NY, passed away peacefully on October 14, 2024, at the age of 86. Born on May 29, 1938, in Glendale, NY, Noah was a beloved figure whose warmth and generosity touched all who knew him.
He was the cherished husband of Dolores for 63 wonderful years and a devoted father to Noah W. (Jean), William M. (Kim), and Suzanne Mimnaugh (Jim). He was predeceased by his son Michael A. (survived by Debbie), leaving a legacy of love and cherished memories. Noah was a proud grandfather to Amanda (Evan), Ashlyn (Sean), Gillian, Sarah, William, Michael, Nicholas, James (fiancée Alyssa), Kayleigh, and Ryan. He was also a proud great-grandfather to Camden, Brody, Parker, Tatum, and Jack.
Noah is survived by his dear sister, Mary Heidinger (late John), and was preceded in death by his sisters Dorothy (late Bill) and Catherine Herz.
Professionally, Noah was an air traffic controller, despite having an aversion to flying. His passions extended far beyond his career; he was a talented cook and craftsman, known for building cherished projects like a backyard shed, an office desk, and a dollhouse for his daughter Suzanne. An avid refinisher, Noah transformed old items into beloved treasures.
His love for his family was evident in the countless hours spent tending to his yard and pool, and in his delightful tradition of dressing up as Santa Claus to surprise his grandchildren during the holidays. He was known affectionately within the family as the "Picker of the Year," tirelessly searching estate sales and garage sales for hidden gems, embodying the belief that one man's trash is another man's treasure.
Noah was a devoted New York Yankees fan and had a particular fondness for chocolate ice cream and cheesecake. He will be remembered not just for his many talents, but for his generous spirit and the joyful moments he created with his family. Later in life after his retirement, Noah developed a passion to be involved in the Federal, State and local election process, as an Election Supervisor, a responsibility he loved, and he was extremely dedicated and never missed an election until he became ill. In his spare time, he also volunteered many hours to St Gerard's Majella RC Church, and loved working at the Barn (St Gerard's Thrift Store ) to provide benefits to the local community.
