Dorothy G. Smith

of Port Crane, NY, formerly of Chenango Bridge

Dorothy Gertrude (Finno) Smith died Thursday, November 22, 2012 as a result of complications of Alzheimer's. Dorothy was born February 11, 1919 to the late Duncan and Ida (Murray) Finno. She was predeceased by her husband G. Leon Smith in 1991 and her sister and brother-in-law Barbara and Charles Burrows. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law Dennis and Pattie Smith, Corning, NY; daughter Lynda Burns, Binghamton, NY; grandchildren Wayne (Carol) Smith, Enfield, NH, Theresa (Gary) Brown, Wellsville, NY, Deanna Smith, Corning, NY and Jacquelyn (Bryan) Cox, Manitou Springs, CO; great-grandchildren Alexander, Nicholas, Connor, Hunter and Sarah; niece Sandra (Bruce) Mason, Litchfield, CT and nephews Wayne (Judi) Burrows, Cottage Grove, OR and Roger (Murielann) Moore, Otego, NY. She was a member of the Chenango Bridge United Methodist Church since the 1950's where she was active in the Faith Circle. Leon and Dorothy operated Binghamton White Sales from 1951 until they retired in 1981. Dorothy was a talented porcelain artist and she greatly enjoyed her friendships in the Heart of NY Porcelain Artists.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, November 29, 2012, 3pm at the Wm. R. Chase & Son Funeral Home, 737 Chenango Street, Port Dickinson with Rev. Roger Frederick officiating. Burial will be in Ouleut Valley Cemetery at the convenience of the family. Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday from 2pm until the time of service.
