Donald Beagell, Jr., of Sebastian, FL formerly of Binghamton, NY, was born on September 25, 1937, he went home to be with the Lord on August 30, 2022, surrounded by his loving family. He was predeceased by mother Bernice L. Beagell, father, Donald E. Beagell, sister Dawn (Beagell) Williams and brother-in-law Michael Colsten. He is survived by the love of his life of 60 years, Bonita L. (Colsten) Beagell, daughter Debra (Gerry) Deyo, daughter Cynthia (Randy) Howard, daughter Laura (Michael) Dau, son, Gregory (Darcy) Beagell and daughter Jessica (Chad) Phillips and was blessed by 14 beautiful grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren.
He is also survived by his sister Linda (Thomas) Dwyer, brother Roger (Chrys) Beagell and brother Gary (Linda) Beagell, brother-in-law, Ronald Williams, sister-in-law Leatrice Colsten, brother-in-law Stephen (Pamela) Colsten.
Don was a graduate of Windsor High School. He was an award-winning dirt track racing champ for over 20 years and was influential in the racing community. Don took the reins of the family business, Don’s Automotive Mall, at the age of 28 and was the operator of the business for over 50 years.
He served as president of the New York and International Automotive Recyclers Associations and traveled to Japan, Germany and England to help advance and promote best practices for auto recycling. Many of Don and Bonnie’s dearest lifelong friends were found through the auto parts business and the travel that ensued from his involvement in these associations. He had a love of farming and horses and enjoyed many hours raising, training and showing horses with his family. Don was a real estate developer, and with the help of his family, brought the Highland Heights community to town of Kirkwood. He was a proud and involved member of the Kirkwood Lions Club, Brookvale UMC, was a volunteer fire fighter, and supported local youth organizations for many years. His passions included staying busy on projects, golfing with his wife and good friends, hunting, spending time with family and friends and riding his John Deere Tractors.
A Private Funeral Service will be held at the Wm. R. Chase & Son Funeral Home at the convenience of the family. Burial will be in the Chenango Valley Cemetery. A Celebration of Don’s life will be held on Saturday, September 3, 2022, from 1-4pm at The Venue at Beagell Farms, 780 Nolan Road, Port Crane, NY 13833.
