Cynthia “Cindy” Newberry Kaufman, beloved daughter of Ken and Chloe Newberry, passed to be with them on May 27, 2022. Cindy grew up in Kirkwood, New York and graduated from Susquehanna Valley High School in 1977. She was a long-time Port Dickinson resident. Cindy’s nurturing nature led to a long and successful career as a Registered Nurse for UHS in Johnson City, NY as well as in a facility helping those with addiction issues. Cindy loved spending her free time vacationing in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware. She also enjoyed dining on Italian food, surrounded by friends, family and her many beloved pets.
She was an avid music and television fan, and it was common to find Cindy enjoying a song or a TV show relaxing at home. She is survived by her sister, Lynn Newberry and Lynn’s partner, Grace Furtado,
her nephew, Justin Johnston, her daughter, Jillian Kaufman and partner, Cody Vaughn, and her granddaughter, Cadance Vaughn, as well as her many “adopted” children.
Calling hours to which relatives and friends are invited to attend will take place on Wednesday, June 1, 2022, from 4-6 P.M. at the Wm. R. Chase & Son Funeral Home, 737 Chenango Street, Port Dickinson. A service to celebrate Cindy’s life will follow at the funeral home at 6 P.M. Cindy will be laid to rest at Riverside Cemetery, Kirkwood, NY.
