Michael James Stringer, age 98, of Vancouver, British Columbia passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 8, 2023 at the German Canadian Care Home in Vancouver at the age of 98, just days away from this 99th birthday.

Michael initially enlisted in the RCN during wwII but after a year decided he preferred flying and joined the R.C.A.F. After Michael received his air gunner and wireless operator certification he flew anti submarine patrol missions with both No 5 and 162 Squadrons off Canada’s east coast and Iceland inside the Consolidated Canso A (PBY-5A) until the war ended.
After the war, he worked at various hospitals in Saskatchewan, Alberta and British Columbia. He retired from the Vancouver General Hospital in 1984 after 23 years of service.
