Wayne and I send very belated condolences to you Sandra and your family. We only just found out about John's passing.

We only knew John and Sandra post retirement through social engagements and Canuck/Coyote games but we treasured our times spent together....good laughs and great stories. Dimitri and I are so sorry to hear of John's passing. I heard of his passing at the Academy (on the old Hole #4). Interesting only because that's where I first met John, at Westwood Academy at one of our mixed events - either Academy Cup or Match Play in the late 1990's.  I remember thinking that he looked a lot like Jack Nicklaus.  He always had a smile on his face and was fun to golf with, even in competition. We have not had many mixed events in recent years but whenever I ran into him at the Academy, he always had a smile and a nice word to say.  I remember one of the last times, he was with a grandchild (or two) and he was so happy and proud to be with them.  I didn't think he could smile any wider! We will miss seeing him at Westwood.  I want to send my sincere condolences to his family.  May you find comfort in knowing that he lived a rewarding and rich life and that he will be fondly remembered by all who had the pleasure and privilege of knowing him.

We are very saddened to learn of John's passing.  Mike and I met John and Sandra at a Grey Cup party in Sun City Grand, Surprise, Arizona.  John and Mike often played golf together in the Grand.  Our thoughts and prayers go out to Sandra and her family at this most difficult time.

Our deepest condolences to you and the girls and their families, Sandy.  We go back a long way through the years at MSA/MSI and Blue Cross.  It was so nice to share such great times together.   We enjoyed keeping in touch with John via emails since the guys both retired.  So very sorry for your loss.

I am shocked and saddened by the loss of the first friend that I can remember.  John and I met as pre-schoolers next door neighbours in 1947 and continued as friends through school.  I have memories of first cars, double dating with John & Sandra.  Drive-in movies, Danceland and so much more. Then as across the cul de sac neighbours on Mcdonald place in Port Coquitlam with young families.  We eventually moved away to carry on with our lives with occasional contact over the years.  The most recent being at Tim Hortons in Salmon Arm last summer.  Hit the long ball, my friend.  Go for yet another hole-in-one!

Sandy and I shared many enjoyable times with you and John and have fond memories of many trips and fine dining experiences.

Our thoughts are with all of the family these days knowing how difficult this time can be. There was never a time I saw John at the rink or drove past him on the street that he didn't have a smile and a wave for Chase and I.  He would always come up behind me at the rink with a 'Hello" and a kind word.  His family was his life, proud of each and every one of them.  Hold on to your memories they are yours forever.  He will always be watching out for you all. xo

My condolences for your heartbreaking loss. After having lost my father early in 2010 I know that the emotions can literally leave you breathless, and they can overtake you unexpectedly. Given enough time for the initial shock to subside I've found what is left is a treasure chest of happy memories of time spent together that are yours forever. I've enjoyed John's kind words and friendship for more than two decades of Saturday mornings, and have especially cherished his company since Dad's passing it as it felt a bit like having him with me still. I've included a photo I took October 22, 2016. This is perhaps 20 yards from the spot where a memorial plaque for my father is fixed to large granite boulder with a magnificent vista. This monolith will soon have a second...

It was a pleasure and a privilege to get you started with your group on Men's night John; as well as loosing many skins to you on Saturday mornings.Now you are in God's Kingdom where there is no more sorrow or pain only love, peace and joy. God bless you and your family.

We will all miss one of the nicest guys you could ever meet. He was always a pleasure to see, and his huge smile only matched his huge heart. Golf was a big part of John's life and that's where he seemed to enjoy being around his buddies and even the staff at Westwood Plateau Golf Club all knew John for his kindness. His family was the most important thing to him and his grandkids were the apple of his eye, he was so proud of them. 
With heavy hearts we must say goodbye for now, but make no mistake , we will always remember our dear friend John.

We will all miss your infectious smile... your kind words... your encouragement ... and always GREAT comeradery on the course... Thank you buddy....

One sunny Saturday in 1996 I had the pleasure of meeting a fellow who was learning the game of golf. John Seney was his name and my friends advised that he was a pretty big deal.. the president of an insurance company they said. 

As time passed I would see John at the golf course and occasionally get to play a round with him. Nice man I thought... good sense of humour.. and even though he was a busy senior executive he was very welcoming and friendly. 

As time passed John and I became friends.. good friends. He would offer his ear when I was struggling.. and he was always the first person I called when I achieved a milestone. At this point... he became my closest friend. 

Years turned into decades, my career changed, John had 4 terrific Grandchildren that he adored and the time we got to spend together dwindled to phone calls and emails and the occasional round of golf.. but the connection we had remained strong. John was now the closest thing I had to a Father and I was incredibly proud to tell him and anyone else that fact. 

He was an amazing man.. he was thoughtful and kind to everybody he met. John gave freely of his time to comfort his friends during challenging times and celebrated their victories as though they were his own.. 

To the greatest Father I have ever known.. I miss you John. You will be in my heart forever.
