Onida was born on September 4th, 1951 in Pontiac, Michigan. She was the daughter of Herschel W. and Zona E. (Pemberton) Ping of Terre Haute, Indiana. She was the youngest daughter of ten children.
She married the love of her life, John M. Mello, on September 23, 1972 at Shrine of the Little Flower Church in Royal Oak Michigan. John and Onida shared 50 wonderful years of marriage. Everyone knew they loved each other. She was a loving and caring wife.
Onida was a blessing to everyone who knew her. Onida was a wonderful mother, a very special, loving grandmother and great grandmother. She would never hesitate to help if any of the kids or grandkids needed her. She crocheted many special blankets and baby clothes over the years.
She worked in their business, Community Chem-dry until she got sick. She loved the Lord with all her heart and would always be the first person to pray for someone. Onida was truly loved and cherished by all who knew her.
Survived by her husband John, her three children Michael Mello, Cindy Grover, and Melissa Camp, Onida had four children total, her daughter Onida Jo, who preceded her in death.
Grandchildren: Michael, Alexandria, Rachael, Samantha, Stephanie, Jonathan, Philip, and Amber.
Great grandchild: Ethan.
Siblings: Zona R. Ping, Jesse Ping, Martha Steele, and Ruby Smith.
She was preceded in death by- Father: Herschel W. Ping, Mother: Zona E. Ping, Shirley, Faylin, Veolada, Ronald, and Herschel T.
