It is with warmth and love that we reflect on the life of Joseph Anthony Russo, who passed away at the age of 72 in Port Charlotte, Florida, on September 8, 2024. Born on June 19, 1952, in Brooklyn, New York, Joseph lived a life rooted in kindness, selflessness, and an enduring love for his family and friends.
He is survived by his daughter Theresa (Philip) Waller, his son Angelo (Shelly) Russo, stepsons Eric (Ali) Philippin and Marcel Philippin; his devoted sisters, Antoinette and Marie Russo, along with many nieces and nephews, Christine (Anthony) Fedele, Angelina, Lucia, Manny (Florianna), Marie, Jennifer and Theresa Russo. He is reunited in death with his treasured parents, Angelo Russo and Gloria Dimeo, his late brother John Russo; his beloved Uncle Mike, and his significant other of 29 years Donna Marie Philippin. He also leaves behind close family members Michael, Robert, Lynn, and Jake Brown; Kathy Fattoruso and family; and Patrick and Rose Ann Doran among many others. The light of his life were his grandchildren, Bella, Antonio, Grayson, Dominic, Luca, David, Ava, and Riley, who will carry his stories and infectious laughter in their hearts.
Joseph was a man of intellect and wit, evidenced by his bachelor's degree in law, his respected career as a paralegal, and his active involvement in various associations. His storytelling ability was unparalleled, often enthralling those around him with tales of his adventures and life's humorous twists. He held an abiding passion for travel, taking his family on countless vacations and camping trips, ensuring that fun was always on the itinerary.
More than anything, Joseph was a family man at heart, always placing the needs of others before his own. He left an indelible mark on the lives he touched, demonstrating through actions that love and generosity are the cornerstones of a life well lived.
As we bid farewell to Joseph Anthony Russo, we celebrate the remarkable legacy of a man who was truly the best of us. His spirit will live on in the hearts of his family, friends, and all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
A service will be taking place at Restlawn Memorial Gardens on October 19th, 2024 at 10am.
