James L. Peirce was born in Delphi, Indiana on March 15, 1922 to James Francis Peirce and Alma Ruth (Billiard) Peirce.
He is survived by his sons Robert Lewis Peirce (married to Juliet (Yu) Peirce) of Torrance, California and Douglas Edward Peirce (married to Terri (Hamlin) Peirce) of West Bloomfield, Michigan. 4 grandchildren, Kathryn, James, Dylan and Ryan (married to Jessica Marie (Copland) Peirce). 2 great grandchildren, James and Emma.
He was predeceased by his wife of 51 years, Beverly Ann (Robinson) Peirce and their son James Michael Peirce. James and Beverly retired to Florida from Farmington Hills, Michigan in 1990.
James grew up in Delphi, Indiana and was active in 4-H, Future Farmers of America, and graduated from Delphi High School in 1940. He had caring extended family across Carroll County, Indiana. His father (James F. Peirce) and grandfather James M. Peirce were road and bridge contractors in Indiana. The ‘Peirce’ Stone Barn in Delphi, Indiana was built by his grandfather.
James worked for the U.S. Government at Wright Field (Wright-Patterson Air Force Base) during WWII. Afterwards, he graduated with a B.S.E.E. from Purdue University in 1949.
James eventually started his own Electronic Sales Representative company, Carter, McCormick, & Peirce with offices in Detroit, Indianapolis, Dayton, and Pittsburgh. He expanded to include a computer distributorship (Startronic Distributor) and a manufacturing company (CMP Industries).
James was actively involved in his children’s activities, Little League Baseball, Boy Scouts, school activities, and sports. He loved to golf and fish, and snow skied in his younger days.
He was very sociable and enjoyed many community activities. He was regarded as a kind, honest, generous, and exemplary person by co-workers, friends, and family and was very much loved.
James was a resident of South Port Square in Port Charlotte Florida since 2012 making many wonderful new friends.
The family suggests contributions to a charity of choice. Interment will be at Acacia Park Cemetery in Beverly Hills, MI with a final viewing at McCabe Funeral Home in Farmington Hills, MI.
