Blanche R Waller

Blanche Ratcliffe Waller of Port Charlotte, Florida passed away on December 10, 2024 at the age of 101.

She was born on April 10, 1923 in Henry County, Virginia to Thomas Edward and Annie Stephens Ratcliffe. Blanche graduated from Bassett High School in Bassett, VA and National Business College in Roanoke, VA. She was employed by DuPont in Martinsville, VA and Richmond, VA.

Blanche married Richard Conrad Waller on December 12, 1948. They spent most of their married life in Ohio, where Blanche was active in volunteer work, Cub Scouts, Girl Scouts, teaching charm and yoga classes, and visiting many residents in area nursing homes. However, her role as Mother and Grandmother brought her the greatest pleasure in life.

After retirement, Blanche and Richard moved to Port Charlotte, and found paradise. They enjoyed boating with picnic lunches practically every day. Richard passed away in Port Charlotte on May 8, 2006.

Blanche’s life can be summarized by her faith in God, her strength, courage and love for her family and friends. Over her life, she enjoyed volunteering in her community to help others and loved gardening, dancing, and socializing with family and friends. She treasured the close time she has throughout her life with her closest sister Mabel. She made friends wherever she went. Her family and friends are deeply saddened and forever grateful for the time spent with Blanche.

Survivors include their children Susan Dawson, Michael Waller, Kenneth Waller and Patricia Waller Boyd and their grandchildren Natalie, Heather, Stacy, Shannon, Chad, Dawn, Fay, Gwyn, Jennifer, and Stephen.

She was preceded in death by her husband Richard Conrad Waller, their son Richard Waller, Jr., her parents Thomas Edward and Annie Stephens Ratcliffe, four sisters Mary Etta Ratcliffe, Margaret Barrow, Lucy Jones, Mabel Scott, and her brother William C. Ratcliffe.
